Hi! I’m Sarah
I am a freelance Forest School Leader and Trainer and a qualified teacher (PGCE-international), an experienced teacher-trainer and founder of MyForestSchool. I train Forest School and Forest Kindergarten Leaders with Sarah Lawfull at Where the Fruit Is.
My Story
Having grown up in the wilds of Dartmoor, where I spent most of my childhood climbing trees and building dens, I then spent over 15 years abroad, teaching and training in British international schools. In 2012, I returned to the UK and started volunteering at my local Forest School and since 2017 I have combined my fascination for understanding how adults and children learn with my love of the outdoors, working as a fully qualified Forest School Leader. I have set up and run long-term Forest School programmes in various Oxfordshire schools as well as short “Introduction to Forest School” programmes.
I have full paediatric outdoors first aid training, public liability insurance, an enhanced DBS check, Safeguarding, Prevent and Level 2 Outdoor Food Hygiene training. I am always curious, wanting to learn more about the natural world around me and take my own CPD very seriously through reading, attending webinars and courses such as Working with People with Challenging Behaviour in the Outdoors Level 3, and Teach Earth - Citizen Science and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
When I'm not out in the woods, I can be found out on my bike, messing about in the garden, hammock-camping or volunteering with my local scout group – i.e. outdoors somewhere!
